Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 28, 2026

Yoked is built to be private by design. We don't run a server that stores your data, we don't have accounts, and we don't sell or share your information. This policy explains what that means in practice.

The short version

  • No account, no sign-up. Yoked doesn't ask for your name, email, or phone number.
  • Your data stays with you. Your workouts, nutrition logs, progress photos, sleep, and coach conversations are stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud account. We — the developers of Yoked — cannot access them.
  • No tracking, no ads, no analytics. Yoked contains no advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and no advertising identifiers.
  • We never sell your data. Ever.

Information Yoked handles

Health and fitness data. With your permission, Yoked reads data from Apple Health (such as bodyweight, sleep, and heart rate) to power your dashboard, recovery insights, and coach, and writes data to Apple Health (your workouts, and the calories and nutrients of meals you log) so it counts toward your Activity and nutrition there. This data is governed by Apple's Health permissions, stays on your device and in Apple Health, and is never used for advertising or shared with third parties.

Content you create. Meals, custom meal types, workout history, progress photos, and coach conversations are stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData. Progress photos are kept on your device; we remove embedded location/EXIF metadata when saving them.

iCloud sync. If you're signed into iCloud, Yoked syncs your data across your devices (for example, between your iPhone and Apple Watch) using Apple's CloudKit in your private iCloud database. This data is stored in your iCloud account under Apple's terms; the Yoked developers have no access to it and no copy of it.

On-device and Private Cloud Compute AI

Yoked's AI features — plan generation, meal description, sleep summaries, and the coach — use Apple's built-in AI models. These run on your device. On supported devices, some features may use Apple's Private Cloud Compute, which is operated by Apple, processes your request without retaining your data, and does not make your data available to Apple for training or to anyone else. Your information is not sent to any third-party AI provider.

The one thing that leaves your device: barcode lookups

When you scan a product barcode, Yoked sends that barcode number to Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org), a free, open product database, to retrieve the product's name and nutrition facts. Only the barcode is sent — no personal information, and the request isn't linked to you. Open Food Facts handles that request under its own privacy policy.

Permissions Yoked may ask for

  • Apple Health — to read bodyweight/sleep/heart rate and write workouts and nutrition.
  • Camera — to scan barcodes, photograph meals for on-device analysis, and take progress photos.
  • Photo Library — to choose existing photos as progress photos (handled by the system picker).
  • Microphone & Speech Recognition — to let you describe a meal by voice; transcription is done on your device.
  • Notifications — for rest timers and optional workout reminders.

You can grant or revoke any of these in iOS Settings at any time.

Your control over your data

Your data lives on your device and in your iCloud. You can delete individual items in the app, and you can remove all Yoked data by deleting the app and removing its data from iCloud (Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage). Because we don't have a copy, there's nothing for us to delete on our end.

Children

Yoked is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if the app's data practices change, and revise the “Last updated” date.
